Just curious, does anyone know whether the analog sound on the 1994 film "The Shadow" dolby A or dolby SR? The leader was just marked Stereo DTS, and there is no dolby digital on the print.

That one was Dolby A with a dts track. No SRD or SDDS.

Actually,
In the version that came in Cyprus at that time, the distribution company ordered the film SPECIFICALLY in SR format ONLY. It had no digital track because no cinema at that time had Digital in Cyprus. Now DIGITAL is a MUST in every cinema in Cyprus.

Is the analog track on "Jurassic Park (1)" Dolby-A also? Or is it SR? I know mine has a DTS digital track, of course, but what's the analog?

IIRC, it is in DTS-Stereo A-Type (DTS' Dolby A clone) optical.

Since Universal had a stake in DTS at the time, and DTS had an exclusive license with MGM to release all non-Bond product with DTS' system only, I would say so, maybe even before that...

I think Michael and Aaron are correct on this. There was a DTS-Stereo. It had a different logo than DTS digital. I tried looking up the poster for the film, but I could not find any DTS logos on it.

Thanks everyone. The Shadow plays much better in Dolby A. It did not sound right in SR. There is a DTS Digital Sound credit in the films end credits, but no mention of which analog format.

As to Ron's question about Jurassic Park 1, I believe (but not sure) that it is in SR. I do know that there is a Dolby "Spectral Recording" credit at the end of the film, which was how Dolby was marketing SR to the public at that time.

Look at the leaders: if they read simply 'STEREO', you can safely assume its probably A-Type. If they say 'SR' or 'STEREO SR' its SR.
