I was curious of the cost, percentage of profits or dollar amount, of playing a typical new release. Also, what would the cost be to play an old print like "Evil Dead" or something like that ?

There are so many booking arrangements depending on the location and the "clout" of the theater circuit that it's almost impossible to generalize. Having said that, a typical arrangement for a blockbuster might be 80-90% of the gross after the theater's "nut" at opening, tapering down to as low as low as 50/50% or even 35/65% as the film plays out with "nut" defined as the house's basic operating expenses. Older films can be leased for as little as $150-$200 plus shipping.
