How would you define a roadshow presentation? I had a lengthy discussion with a friend these days, and since the roadshow presentation is an American invention, I'd like to have your opinion.

In understand that roadshow presentation means

1. Running a film exclusively and for a longer time than in standard release practice;

2. Giving special care to presentation, like having entrance music, overtures, intermission music, possible presentation in large format or special sound formats;

3. Preselling tickets for a long time, offering seat reservations in a theaterlike manner, no nonstop shows ("this is where we came in").

Are this the only criteria of roadshowing, and are there other important considerations?

It's not a roadshow unless heavy lifting is involved! [Big Grin]

That can be 70mm shipping cases, temporary projector installations, special sound gear, portable mag dubbers, whatever.
