I was considering purchasing and installing the Big Sky Reflector Upgrade Kit part # (BUR10SPBS) in my Xetron XHN21 lamphouse to replace the nuisance of the "spider" assembly.

Does anyone have any experience with this upgade?

We've done quite a few of them and its probably the best option other then replacing the Xetron. You get more even light and more light output as a result.... [thumbsup]

Probably just what you were hoping to hear.

That spider assembly Xetron used was worthless from day one. Any upgrade would be better just to get rid of it. You will probably notice better ignitions as well because the ignition will not jump the rubber guides to ground.

Never had a problem with the spider and iginitions since the ignigtor is in the negative lead and the anode end has the spider and depending on the rectifier it might even be grounded

Gord, I got hit by that arc coming around the reflector out of the spider because some doofus bypassed the interlocks.. Was the worst jolt I ever received. To be more specific, that happened in Rhinelander, Wisconsin in 1982.

That reminds me to mention to be careful of the DC igniters.

They hold a HV charge many days after use. I was VERY surprised one day when I touched one that had been removed as "faulty" from a Hi-Lite II. YIKES!
