Hello all,

I just recently came acrossed a problem with one of my christies aw3r platters. Problem being in the take-up arm which does not engage until almost to the motor. I tried to recalibrate the motor control card with no positive results. Replaced card entirly, but it still did not solve the problem. The centerfeed operates fine and maintains correct speed. The projectionist on the clock when problem was noticed said he thought he might have caused the problem by engaging the arm while the make-up button to said platter was pushed in. I on the other hand dont see how that could be possible? Any advice, direction, or experience with the aw3r's would be most useful to me. Thank you film-techer look forward to your comments

Sounds like the arm is not adjusted correctly under the axle. Remove the brain from the takeup platter and tell me if that doesn't solve your problem. If so, that tells us what the problem is. If not, that also helps to tell us what the problem is.

What do you mean by remove the brain? I'm guessing center-feed.

Yes, brain, feed plate, center-feed, payout assembly, that weird contraption in the middle of the platter deck, whatever you want to call it.

I have had this problem before and sometimes it turned out to be that there was not enough tension on the filter tension spring. To get the tension right just read the AW3 tips.

Along the lines of what Manuel said, attached to the end of the take up arm (hub end) is a little white lever that moves the filter across the sensor...is it possible that the end snapped off and is enagaging late, causing your delay?

Its so hard to find good help these days, but in this case it is definatly an exception. Michael, fortunatly it was just a spring tension issue and not the problem you had suggested. By adjusting the filter spring I was able to correct the problem. Manuel thanks for the help.
