Anyone ever hear of this projector? Anyone have one? This would be a 1949 vintage machine with sound and picture head in a single case.

I've never heard of it Edward but DeVry made that same kind of unit well into the 50s.

The company was called Weber-Synchrofilm and was in buisness till the 60's sometime, and then taken over by the now defunct Star Cinema in NYC. They printed a monthly booklet similar to what Motiograph put out of which I have a couple. I believe they held several patents including one for using magnetic rotary stabilization. They also had a very unique Art Deco look to them. Kerry Williams at The Chicago Cinema Museum has quite a few Synchrofilm products in the museum collection. You might want to contact him.

The last model of the Syncrofilm soundhead for standard USA type projectors had a flywheel with ball bearings which would allow for rapid acceration and "self balance" when it was up to speed. I restored one in Latin America in which they had substitued another flywheel because they thought it was falling apart and rattling [Big Grin]

The Weber Machine Co. was based in Rochester,NY. I ran a pair of the soudheads Richar's talking about back in the sixties.
