Hey All-

Is the Christie SLC Xenon Console available in 5 and 6 kw xenon models? Can you easily adjust something, or can they be ordered this way?

It comes in a 7kw model and the 5 or 6kw lamps could be run in it. Edwards used alot of the 7kw consoles.

So, I haven't really studied the inards of a console or lamphouse system- If you're running it in the 7kw Console, how do you modify it so that these bulbs can be used (as in turning the power down to fit those, and fitting the bulb in)? Does this have something to do with the rectifier or something?

So, say if I have an 8 screen multiplex with:
Cinema 1: 214 seats
38ft. x 15.8 ft.
4000 watts

Cinema 2: 421 seats
69ft. x 28.8 ft.
6000 watts

Cinema 3: 220 seats
40ft. x 16.7 ft.
4000 watts

Cinema 4: 357 seats
57ft. x 23.8 ft.
5000 watts

Cinema 5: 399 seats
57ft. x 23.8 ft.
5000 watts

Cinema 6: 599 seats
80ft. x 33.4 ft.
7000 watts

Cinema 7: 395 seats
57ft. x 23.8 ft.
5000 watts

Cinema 8: 237 seats
44ft. x 18.4 ft.
4000 watts

I'd have 3- 4kw, 3- 5kw, 1- 6kw and 1- 7kw, so I'd order 3- SLC 40s and 5- SLC 70s, and make the necessary changes?

Thats exactly right Andrew, its all adjustments that can be done to the rectifier for proper lamp operating current. Instead of stocking and running a 6kw you might as well make it two 7kw's or install an appropriate screen in the 7kw house for operation with two 6kw. Its just easier and less expensive to standardize and stock less parts in the booth.

I'd rather order all SLC-70s and use either CXL4500s or CXL6000s. That way you don't keep tons of money tied up in stock and have various sizes around the building. Remember, it is always better to have too much light than not enough.

BTW, you can get more light out of a CXL-60 than a CXL-70 when running 35mm.

You can always trade excess light for more uniform illumination, better depth of focus, or even a three blade shutter to eliminate flicker. [Smile]

Standard SMPTE 196M allows up to 22 footlamberts, with an aim of 16 footlamberts.
