Tonight watching the end of Troy. I saw the logs for DTS-ES but only saw the dolby digtal logo. Is this a misprint or something. I thought if, it is ES its aslo EX.

I am 99% positive that the discs did not say ES.

I can't remember exactly but I don't remember the ES logo being on the DTS disc labels.

BTW: dts' list doesn't mark Troy as es either !

Let's live with it: They really took our asses with that 7th channel, which we didn't need, didn't ask for, but paid for anyway. Now it's there, almost as usefull as a 70mm projector. That's life ! (next thing will be digital projectors)

Here's a theory I have:

Maybe they put the DTS-ES logo on the end credits of "Troy" perhaps with the DVD release in mind. Perhaps some special edition version of "Troy" will have DTS-ES 6.1 on it. There's plenty of cases where a movie has been released theatrically with a standard Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track but then featured DD 5.1-EX or even DTS-ES 6.1 on DVD.

Except that Troy is from a company that does not currently support DTS on their DVDs.

It'd be a nice change to get Warner to do DTS, but Troy's track wasn't that great in the first place so I don't see DTS really helping it all that much. Now T3 in DTS would have been nice. I know other parts of the world got it in DTS because Sony owns the rights and it was supposedly outstanding!

Warner did have DTS on a few DVDs, the rerelease of Twister being the only one I can remember, but so far no ES encoding. Personally, I thought the mixing on Troy sounded pretty cheap, most of the dialouge was mixed with natural sounds in the center channel. The effects in the surrounds had decent direction as they were.
