Does anybody know the dayton motor number for a century r-3 sound head? I really don't want to pay 330 dollars for a 87 dollar motor. Just need the frame type.

What motor was on it in the first pklace century motor padles support a variaety of motors some no longer available like the hoovers also which RPM did you have

Actually there is GE motor on resilient mounts that will directly replace that motor. It'll also run with alot less vibration because of the rubber mounts. E-Mail Richard Fowler and he can give you the G.E. model number.

First, thank you both ,Gordon Mcleod and Mark Gulbrandsen, for replying to my post. To Mr. Mcleod, a century is what is on there now. rpm is 1725 which is what I have seen on most r-3 I have seen. Mr. Gulbrandsen, I have e-mailed Mr. Fowler and waiting for his reply. Thank you very much.

All my centuries are GE 1800 RPM. Not that it enriches the discussion in any way, I just wanted to let you know.
BTW does anyone know what the model # of the Leeson motor provided by Strong for 5Stars these days? I had wanted to crossreference it for some time, but haven`t gotten to it so far.

You are not as likely to find a cross reference to the Simplex motor as to the century...the shaft size is small compared to the HP and frame size.

The Century motor, on the other hand, is more of a standard size. If I remembered the frame size of the Century, I would post it. Wolk also carries the Century MO-40 (Century Async motor). I wanna say it is a C41 or C46 frame. Wolk is generally reasonably priced on the parts and equipment.

The Leeson motor is a custom job for Strong and cannot be bought through a normal Leeson distributor. Already tried to do that. What you may want to liik into is a Baldor electronic drive motor like we are installing on the latest batch of DP-70's we are rebuilding. Its available for a bit less $$ than the Strong/Leeson and is an even better motor in my opinion. Aside fomr variable run up and down on speed I like the jog feature and the overcurrent sense setting that could prevent gear damage with a bad film pile up. It also runs on 120 volts single phase.
