I have a simplex XL projector on a christie lamp house. I noticed that the trap was extremely loose, allowing the bottom to "flap" up roughly.5 to 1.5 inches. I've tightend the screw that holds the trap to the chassis as much as i can, but it is still looser than I care. How could I fix this problem??

I hope you haven't stripped that screw in any way. You need to make sure that the trap is positioned on it's set pins snug against the chassis before tightening the screw.

Do you think that the set pins might have sheared off for some reason? I know the screw isn't stripped, except for the head(just a little bit)but i can still get a screwdriver to grab hold, it just won't stay tight. I didn't know if there was some other method other than lock tite. I'm afrain that might bake in with the heat and REALLY set the screw in good.

Are both alignment pins still there? I'll bet they are either pushed in flush or missing. That's the only way the trap would be able to move as you describe.

yes, both alignment pins were pushed in flush, and I was able to fix the problem. Thank you very much. I thought the problem lied in the screw, but you pointed out the other cause
