We had heavy rainfall on day before yesterday. At one corner there was water leakage in our projection room. Yesterday morning when we were preparing for the show & when we turned On. the CP-650D Processor it refuced to turn On & was on stand-by mode,so we played the entire movie on standby mode.

Our Sound service engineer had come with a SMPS bord & replace the entire power supply card, which solved the problem.

We really don't know what exactly was the cause of the problem.

There was no water found on the sound rack.

Any suggestion to prevent this types of problem in future will be appreciated.

Sometimes you just have a failure...the fact that it happened around the same time as a leak is just a coincidence. However, it is always a good practice to have some sort of surge supression on such equipment. The CP650 is not generally a problematic unit though.

I reccomend and our customers install 3 phase surge supressors on all booth panels. You can also install one just on the main panel in the building and some have done this on past jobs, however this is not as effective at stopping building generated transients from heavy loads such as Popcorn machines and HVAC units.

I have been using the Hubbel power panel suppressors on the mains since they became avaiable and almost from the introduction of DTS put a UPS on the processing equipment in the racks
Another advantage of haveing the processor digital player monitor and crossovers on a UPS is in the event of a power failure there is not a big system thump as the power crashes and comes back on again

You're not in the Marines when you're on Film-Tech and although I appreciate the consideration the Sir part can certainly be dropped [Wink]
