I wonder what bulb is used in the 16mm Elmo projector CX-550. I know that it is a horizontal xenon bulb. But I need to know more exact specifications to order a new one. Guessing it's 550w. Are there several brands that make this bulb?

If anyone knows where I can find the manual that would be great too.

The xenon bulb is indeed a 550w.
A manual can be purchased from www.efilmcenter.com

The xenon lamp for an ELMO CX-550 is indeed a 550-watt lamp. It is ELMO code #1374. The model of the lamp is XE-550A. Elmo dealers can obtain the lamp for you with a list price of $525.00 though street price is often less.

Elmo does not manufacture xenon lamps. They normally source them from Japan though. Many of their lamps, though not necessarily the one for the CX-550, come from Ushio and Toshiba. Which lamp manufacturer has the "XE" prefix to their lamps? I'm pretty sure OSRAM does not make the lamp.

Wacom Electric (a Japanese company not related to the well-known maker of digitizing tablets) also makes xenon lamps for Elmo. Their lamps generally use the "KXL-" prefix (for example, the lamp for the Elmo XP-750 is a KXL-752HF).

Ok, now I've found a KXL-550HF bulb. Can someone verify that this bulb can be used with the Elmo CX-550 16mm projector? The seller says it does and I want to believe him but when I search the net I only find relations with slide projectors...

I'm not near my ELMO books but I'm pretty sure that lamp is only used with their 550-watt xenon slide projector. I know that the CX-550 and the slide projector do indeed have different lamps (different part number for Elmo too).

Yes, the KXL-550HF is indeed a lamp for an Elmo xenon slide projector (the Omnigraphic 550AF Xenon, to be exact). I bought one of those lamps on the cheap through eBay with a shred of hope it might work with my 550-watt Eiki xenon 16mm, but it did not work. Omnigraphic 550AF Xenons do occasionally pop up on eBay so I'd imagine there's someone out there in need of a KXL-550HF.
