I'm trying to hook up an old DTS E-175 to a tachometer. I don't have the manual. The E-175 has a nine pin female input for tach and the tachometer has a five pin output (I think it is two positives, two negatives and a ground). Does anyone know which wire from the tach goes to what pin on the E-175? [Confused]

You don't even say what type of tach it is -- whether it uses TTL outputs or not.

The operations manual for the E175 is quite clear on what you need to do.

Daryl: as I clearly stated above "I DON'T HAVE THE MANUAL." and all I know about the tach is that it has a five pin output (2+, 2-, and a ground). Does anyone know what wire goes to what pin on the 9 pin female tach input....Daryl?

Did you try "READING THE MANUAL ON THE VERY FIRST PAGE OF THIS SITE"?

At least we've gone from you thinking you know what the tach outputs are to you knowing what the outputs are. [Smile]

Yeah, I did see that, but it looks like it only shows how to wire a reader not a tachometer.

Your kidding right? The word 'tach' is only used 40 times in the manual and sections 2, 5 and 10 (schematics) cover what you want to do.

Hopefully he won't hook it up wrong and blow it up, thats a very expensive shaft encoder that may not be available any longer... [Eek!]
