Hi Folks,
I have a century msa picture head on top of a mtr4 sound head but no drive motor. The system hand turns all the way down to the take up magazine. The picture head has the pulley. My question is, do I need all the components in the mr3-360 motor bracket assembly or can I use any 1725 rpm 60 cyl. motor? Also, should I pick up a motor pulley & belt? If so, I know I can buy a poly pulley & v-belt at Grangers. But, what is the size of a py-880 pulley & be-908 v-belt?
One other question- Do I need a hand wheel?
Any info on this would be greatly appreciated .

There is a motor that is made by GE that can be bought new for under a hundred dollars that will fit the Century without resorting to an expensive factory sync motor and pulleys. You DO need the flywheel that goes on the motor to eliminate a jack rabbit start up that will ultimately ruin the mechanisms gear train... forget the handwheel, its worthless.... get a flywheel The flywheel will smooth out the start up and run down of the machine so that starting and stopping is very eaasy on the gear train. I do reccomend that you get the factory multi Vee pulleys, and I believe that Wolk has them available. Call Juan and see what he has... possibly an entore used motor, mount and what ever you need to get it going. I also reccomend the sound head drive method over the direct drive system that you have now.....which it seems from your description .

I'll call Wolk and see what we can do. This projector is my winter project. I'm not as worried about the direct drive since this is only a toy at my house. [thumbsup]

If it ever ends up at one of my drive in's, I would definitely change it over, tho.
