Remember the Kate & Leopold fiasco of several years ago? Mirimax is at it again. This time, it's Finding Neverland, scheduled for a wide release on November 24 (today, Wednesday). That is, until this past Monday (day before yesterday).
Apparently in a last minute decision, Mirimax decided to reduce the number of prints on this release. That sent us and others scrambling to change things at the last minute- new schedules, notification to the papers, and booking in an attempt to fill the screen.
Fortunately for us, Sony was able to get us an additional print of The Kranks.
Did this happen in your area? Were you also affected?

The picture has been ready since May 2003, when we started doing screenings of it. It's a Ok picture, but its not going to make big numbers.

They did that to us too. It was on our schedule until Monday. I believe we are holding The Grudge as a result. They did give it to our competition, though.
Even the guy that delivers the prints thought we were showing it and even had us down for having the print, which we had returned 3 weeks earlier.

We got to hold on to the sucker for the three weks, just to tear it down yesterday.

well, we're showing it. our print's been around the block though. aside from chopped frames at heads and tails and some color mismatches between reels, it looks ok until the 5th reel which is full of base scratches. awaiting a replacement (which should be available, no?).

Seems it should be, since the great folks at Miramax have had the sneaks in more theatres than the release. Just hope they are timely in delivering it... Good luck!
