My CP65 will only play in SR. When I push any other format button nothing comes through. The LED above the selected button comes on, but no NS or A or Mono sound. No digitals currently hooked up. Works fine in SR, but that's it. The Dolby tech seems to think its the Cat242 card. LEDs on the 242 and 441 card go out in anything but SR. I'm showing signal through the 150e in all formats.
Anybody had this happen to them? What was it?

242 is a possibility, never had one fail like this though. I'd put more money on the 443, I've had a couple do funny things in the past, strangely never had any trouble with it's predecessor the 243 in the CP55.

Another guy I talked to suggested the 443 as the culprit too. He was also a little surprised at the symptoms.

It's certainly not a fault I've come across before, either the 242 isn't responding correctly to control, or control is not being issued properly from the 443.

Swap some cards with another CP65 and see what happens. I know where there's a complete working CP65 available over here!

A friend is coming this morning with some cards to swap out. I should know in a few hours.
By the way, any idea what IC1 and IC2 do?

Good call Pete, it was the 443 card.
Jack Ondracek came by and swapped in a spare card he had. Bingo!
(Thanks Jack)

Next time I've got a CP65 book in my grubby mits I'll have a look and see. Are we talking IC1 & IC 2 on the Cat 443?

On the whole the logic side is pretty robust.

IC 1&2 are on the back side of the CP65 where you hook all the ins and outs up.
Just wondered what they could be doing there all by themselves

IC1 selects the type of SR installed - cat350/300 or 222SRA. I can't see how it is controlled however..

IC2 is the driver / decoder for the ID0 - ID7 format sense lines..
