I got a call from a theatre I never have service before, they want to replace the Motiongraph soundhead mounted on a Motiongraph pedestal with an older Century R3 soundhead using the same Motiongraph pedestal...question is: can this be done without using a different yoke or spacer...will the Century soundhead mount to the pedestal ?? thanks for your help & advise...

The SH7500 uses the western electric mounting arrangment that has a L shaped support back over the yoke

There used to be adaptors available years back but they are no longer unless Wolk happens to have one kicking around. The original Motio adaptors also move the sound head out about 2 inches further. The other alternative is to machine one or have it machined... it really not a big deal. A weldment would also suffice but its got to be very close to the optical C/L as that base doesn't adfford alot of adjustment for xenon. Normally its less expensive to just throw in a used base and be done with it.

And the reason for that was...
to make room for those crazy H-K projector gates, that opened backwards and swung towards the lamphouse!

There were adaptors that were made for this purpose way back when but these are hard to find... you almost have to stumble upon them whilst cleaning out an old theatre..... Ther only real cure today is to have a machinist make one up or just replace the base with a good used base with the correct mounting foot. The latter is normally the most affordable route. Good clean bases can be found quite easily....

Here it is boys...... While at the Worm Creek Cinema in Preston, ID today I noticed they had nice factory original Motiograph to Simplex hanger adaptors on each machine. Don't know who made them but these photos may help someone fabricate one down the road sometime. Just so you all know that when I was in Preston I said hi to Pedro [Cool]
