To try and get people involved, I'm spreading motivational flyers and things around the building. For one of the flyers I want to say "Look at what expensive kit you get to play with!" but then I realised that I haven't a clue how much it costs. I don't want to badger suppliers if I'm not going to buy anything, so I was wondering if you could just at a glance say how much you think:

Cinemeccanica V5 Projector
Cinemeccanica CNR3 Platter
Cinemeccanica MUT
ISCO Optics Wide, Scope and Academy lenses.
Dolby CP500
QSC 800 (x2)
QSC 900
JBL Speaker system (I'm not sure of the model, three big ones with a seperate high end for LRC, and 8 surrounds).

would cost at a garage sale.

Please guesstimate away.

Very incomplete....Million pounds minus your discount = 23,663 pounds average purchase price not factoring depreciation. [Wink]

Thanks: that'll do nicely.

It's a deal. It's a steal. Buy it now, and I'll throw in the rectifier for free [Smile]

This is a good idea to combat ignorance, too.

I've read of yet another historic theatre turned PAC where the group operating it has had their grand re-opening after renovations, saying that the theatre is now a "state of the art stage, film, and media center".

The first thing they did when they started their renovation was to gut the booth! They're running a movie on a DVD & video projector, saying they're trying to gauge if there's any local interest in seeing "films" at the historic theatre.

It's another LHAT member, & somehow they're getting the message that state of the art movies means that they have to get rid of the film projector, & show DVD's on ANY kind of video projector on a 20' screen.

"State of the art stage, film, & media center" that can't run 35mm?

The two things they're missing are:
1. State of the art theatrical film presentation IS film & film projectors
2. How much that state of the art stuff they're throwing in the dumpster costs to replace if they want to BECOME a state of the art film venue.

Do they ever stop to think why the Carmike or Regal down the road isn't just running DVD's on an LCD projector?

Hi Thomas,
Cost of a Vic5 would differ depending on where you bought it, like all cinema equipment really. You can get ripped off or get a good deal.

If you wanna see a fully spec'd out Yorkshire cinema, click on this..

If you want more, well we can't do Cinerama, IMAX and SDDS(but thats dead really [Frown] ) you will have to go to...

But they dont have THX, which IS a big difference. http://www.thx.com/mod/cinema/about.html
