I'm setting up a CP500 with a Klark Teknik RTA in my sound rack, and instead of wiring a mic input to use the CP500's RTA, I'm using the Klark.

When I start the b-chain, and I set the levels, how do I tell it I'm using an external mic? Or do I just use my RTA (which gives me dB levels) and set the levels to the standard?

I would sugest having the engineer for the company that supplied the cp500 align it

I am familiar with setup, and my question was because I've set them up using a multiplexer connected to the CP500, and did the calibration with that. I'm doing this without any signal going into the CP500's RTA. It's for the film school here, and they have it wired that way.

So my question, in more detail, is...
When I'm starting the b-chain alignment and I have to adjust the output levels, what do I have to do that is different b/c I'm using an external RTA? Obviously I don't use the RTA in the CP500, and I know how to EQ it properly, but that first step is confusing me. I know it shouldn't be hard, but I was just wondering.

Le Gordón is right. If you are confused by such a basic step, have somebody really familiar with those setup procedures do it. Just because you may have been shown it once step by step (even if you went to the Dolby seminar), doesn't necessarily mean that you understand properly how it works. Of course you can set the channel levels manually in the CP500. But level setting and EQ are much more complex than it may look at first.

I understand, but with our remote location, the place isn't flowing with engineers. I ended up just running the mic throgh the CP500. Thanks
