My two Victoria 5 have the new (blue) auto lens turrets. For
Cinemascope I use Isco 80mm UltraStar HD Plus (red) and the
BlueStar anamorphic. Those combined are heavy and the turrets
doesn´t handle the weight very well.
I was thinking of replacing the auto turrets with the older
type manual turrets with a separate holder for the anamorphics.
However, I have heard that the older type lens turret is not
mechanically as good as the new type. Does anyone know for a
fact that this is the case?

I must admit, I do not know for a fact, but ... the newer turrets are made for the lighter lenses in use today.
I feel the older turrets were better made for heavy lenses. I do not think you can purchase the older turrets from Cinemeccanica anymore. Be aware: Projectionists will have to be reminded to swing the anamorphic away before rotating the turret. [Edited to include pics of new turret.]
