I'm not sure what a platter reel is, but I have seen Goldberg 2000 foot reels for sale on EBay which have been going for between $20.00 and $30.00.

A platter reel is a special kind of split reel that holds an entire print. You drop it on the platter and play the film off it rather than transfer it from the reel to the platter then play it.

Your regular cinema dealer should sell it, I'd think.
RSEM or whoever oughta have it.

They run about $370.00 for a platter reel (is what I heard). So, get that one approved in your budget.

Thank you all for your input. We tend to have many promo and press screenings with our prints arriving 2 hours before showtime. There are those days however, that these prints will arrive 30-45 minutes before showtime and this platter reel would really be a life saver. I should have no problem getting it approved for our budget as our Senior Management is always worried about our press/promo screenings.
