We have one house with a CP55 and the DTS unit there controls all of the sound formats. The first thing to play, plays in DTS and switches the format out of non-sync and into DTS. At this point anytime the DTS drops out, it reverts to format 04 until the end of the movie and it switches to non-sync. We have another house with a CP200 and im wondering if it can be set up to do the same thing or if the processor has to be hooked up to the automation (TA-10).

The DTS doesn't change formats on a CP200. It simply breaks into the signal path between the control and processor units (JM-11, JM-21). When it reverts to analog, it re-establishes the standard CP200 signal path. To do what you want, you would have to trigger the CP-200 to film-sound first, otherwise the DTS will default to whatever format the CP200 is in.

How are you switching formats on the CP200 now?

Is the automation currently hooked up to the CP200??

The audio portion of the DTS unit is inserted into the CP200 just prior to the EQ cards, so essentially the DTS unit takes over and interupts the analog signal from the 200. This is done on the DTS interface board.

As far as automatic switching to non-sync at the end of the show I do not think it is possible with the 200/DTS interface as the DTS is either on or off.

Wire between the TA 10 and the CP200 as if there was no DTS present and wireing the select and Go to a contact in the TA 10 for the desired analouge format
The DTS will take its own control as it is breaking the JM11 connection So a pulse to say format d which is often preselected as nonsynce will cause the system to be in nonsynce when the DTS lets go at the end of the show

You will need some switching diodes between the preselect and go lines inorder to switch instantly between formats (A,B,C,D). This is the only way to make it switch without having to preselect then pressing GO.

EDIT:

When it is hooked to the automation you would just program a show as if it is analog only. The DTS unit will take over from the analog. Therefore select 05 (or 04) as your show format and then select NonSync as the film end format.
