Does anyone has a block diagram with the exact connections on this igniter? I got one and I am trying to set up a lamphouse for a friend and I don't have the details. I downloaded the one from the Irem website but not much detail as to connection pinouts.

I am really suprised!
If you check my original post is dated from 2005! By the way Happy New Year. I got the diagram from Irem and thank them for their swift support. Anyway thanks for the help but I sorted it out almost 2 years ago and the lamphouse is working perfect ever since.

After 575 days it makes sense to let a sleeping thread lie?

I'm using this igniter with 500W horizontal bulb, and I have problems for hard striking lamp. Rectifier has 120V open voltage, and when I connect it to 900W lamp house on other projector is working without problems, so rectifier is OK.
But on this Prevost with Irem igniter it strikes about when i try 10 times or more.....can be problems because this igniter is for bigger bulb (is mentioned up to 160A) or may bee because high voltage is coming to + (Anode) of bulb?? On this machine is mentioned to be a AS3040 small igniter, but I can't find original, but this aslo fits in it.
I did also try this 500W bulb on other machine with same rectifier, works ok.

120 VDC does seem high. I usually see about 75VDC for older IREMS and about 90VDC for newer models.
I emailed you and Brad a copy of some specs for older IREM ignitors.

If you are talking of Prevost portable projector
The problem is that the high voltage is jumping to the ground The positive lead is to close the chassis
There is not enough space between the reflector and the front metal part of the lamp house
Try to isolate the lead with silicon tube

Yes, Prevost portable is here.
The problem is solved and it was in sparking gap, I did replace sparking gap with some mine and reset distance in it, to get electrodes closer, now is starting without problems!!
Here I did insulate wire, but I tought to insulate it with some teflon tube.
Also for the record, this version of P-86X is running slow, 21 frames/secound....I did gave motor belt wheel to make bigger, to get more rpm.
