We have the CP500 with cat 701 readers. I dont see a way to easily test the led to see if its do dim to be functional or not. I noticed it (the voltage) is turned up to max now and the 32 green leds are hardly staying solid, where they used to be solid in the past. Do you think its the LED showing its age? 6 years old and always on...is there a way to test it? I posted about 6 months ago about test points for the led, hoping it was as easy as the dts readers, however, that doesnt seem to be the case. I'd like to know for sure the led is getting to dim to work correctly before I replace it. Best ideas?

my advice would be to have a scope put on to check the video signal. If you are not getting the correct measurement on the scope you may not be getting enough LED light for proper video levels. Since your voltage is turned all the way up and if the scope shows problems then I would change the LED.
