Hello Everyone:

Since Cinemeccanica seems to have really shitty literature, what would one find on all the features of the VIC 8 and VIC 5?

I'm talking about things you find on current literature, such as the Strong projectors:
"-Conical two-wing high efficiency (>50%) Shutter
-Air-Cooled Curved Film Trap and Gate (Water-Cooled Trap optional on all models, recommended for operation at 4000W and above)
-Constant oil-mist lubrication of all internal parts for reduced maintenance requirement and long component life
-Large diameter (24-tooth) feed and holdback sprockets with dual pad rollers for gentle film handling. All 35mm sprockets are VKF (LaVezzi Very Kind to Film) type.
-Shutter timing is easily adjusted during operation, the only standard production film projector to boast such a feature.
-The film compartment is open to allow easy access for threading and cleaning.
-All major components are easily removed for maintenance."

The V-5s wouldn't have "constant oil mist lubrication", unless one had an oil can dripping on the belt.

Is threading of a Victoria 8 and Victoria 5 identical for 35mm?

Yes, the threading pattern of a V5 and a V8 are very similar.

The V-8s do have an internal oil sump, and oil is circulated for lubrication.

Vic 5s are driven by a series of two belts, a bit like the cam belt and secondary belt in a petrol-engined car. Only the intermittent unit is oil-immersed. This makes for very straightforward maintenance and mechanical repairs, which is one of the machine's key selling points as a multiplex workhorse. Apart from A-chain realignments, virtually anything which goes wrong with one can be fixed by a competent projectionist on site.
