in the case of perforated, they all claim to be 66 ft, not that i've verified it. but how much is on a roll of unperforated? in particular, of clear neutape?

Is there a big price difference between perforated against the normal rolls of splicing tape? If I remember, the perforated is a much thicker stock than the regular roll of mylar, where I can see a noticable price difference.

Put the two rolls side by side and see if the diameter is close to the same.

If a huge price difference, time to switch over to a non-perforated splicer.

Perf. tape is enough more than regular tape that, unless you run a single screen, you can buy the new $500 splicer with the savings.

Rolls of unperf. tape vary significantly in length. Price is no guarantee of quality or length. Individual preferences aside, sometimes the cheaper tape is lenger & better.

Perforated tape (66ft /20m) was going for around $15.00 a roll.
You should be able to get around 396 double sided splices using this type of tape without waste.

the perf tape is thicker, so comparing diameters won't work.

a roll of perf tape seems to cost about 10x as much as a roll of non-perf. but to make a splice with non-perf (on our guillotine splicer) takes about 3x the length of tape as does making a splice with perf tape. to complete the price comparison, i need the length of a roll of neutape.

i'm sure the non-perf tape will come out a bit cheaper. unfortunately, our guillotine splicer isn't the best and routinely leaves hanging chads which must be picked out. i'd like to get an 8-perf splicer but don't really foresee that happening ($$).

even with the 1" non-perf tape, i can line it up so the tape covers 1/4 of one frame and the entirety of the other frame and thus is nearly invisible and jumps minimally. (yes, such a splice holds up fine.) even a 2-perf splice with perforated tape jumps a little more than this, and also leaves residue after a few weeks.
