I have a Simplex E7 with a SH1000 sound head, and stereo cell.
How much space should there be between the film, and the stereo cell.
I'm using a standard white light exciter.

Space between film and the face of the chip is 1mm (.29inch).

Check out the manuals section for the Dolby CP-55 install manual. This shows how to properly align filament to center of chip, the proper spacing and testings.

Should plan on doing a BACP reverse scan reader LED assembly for that 4-star, being with all of the cyan coming out.

0.29" is actually 7.4 mm, about the diameter of a pen.

0.039" is closer to what you want. [Smile]

Would 1 MM be about the thinkness of a dime or penny?.
I have no mm measurements.
What could I use as a refreance?

Yeah, about the size of a penny, a little more than 1/32"... pretty much as close as you can get it without having to worry about it touching the film.
