We have the Luminary 6-4 series lighting control, Strong Highlight IIA projection console, MIT M4A automation. The problem is, the lights dim, then go dark for the feature, then come back to dim for the end credits but dont goto full brightness. We can manually turn them up from console. We have had several prints and re-cued them all to make sure it wasnt a bad cue. Could a relay be bad even though we can manually raise the lights? Would the problem most likely be in the automation somewhere or in the lighting box? Need some trouble shooting help. Thanks.

Ah, sounds like the SCR-1 chip, inside the Lindsay/Fairbank Luminary 6-4 case, is giving you fits to where it may go ka-put. If you're using just one channel for lighting, swap out the SCR-1 chip with the SCR-2 chip and see what happens. Turn power off to the 6-4, do the swap and just follow the same wiring arrangements.

And, make sure that the white goop on the back of the SCR's remain, for this is contact goop for IC's.

(Any problem history with your automation, since I'm not familiar with that make of automation..? this could also be the hangup with the sequencing not following the proper closedown order..)

Or, you need adjust the trimpots inside the 6-4 case for full light. Goto the manual section under "Misc" and you'll see the .pdf on the Luminary 6-4 for full instruction.

Since you can manually pulse the dimmer to full brightness the pronlem is NOT in the dimmer or the wireing to it but in the automation itself
probably a relay in it

The set-up is about 2 years old. Just started happening. I'm not familiar withthe SCR-1 or 2. Would that be in the manual somewhere or is it listed on the part?

I will check the relays. Other than swapping them with a known good relay, is there any way to check them?
