I'm asking this for a fellow theatre owner, who is not internet oriented.
Quote "Anybody know the difference between a "DO" version of King Kong and a "Regular" version?
I had to deal with a potential disaster when the studio sent me eight "DO" reels and one Reel #8 regular version. The studio kept telling me I was mistaken, but in the end, they were wrong. Fortunately, they sent me another #8 reel in "DO". Apparently, "DO" stands for Digital Original. Have any of you received "DO" versions before? "

Thanks!

Brad you said it was almost a disaster....how? Was the "DO" print not a standard soundtrack print? In what way? Wouldn't a standard digital reader play it? What about the analog sound?
My former assistant Alan Meyerson, who is the music mixer for KK would know the answer to that. I will ask him. We just had dinner last night and he was telling me all the drama that went on with the scoring and rescoring of the film. They were lucky to get it finished by the release date.
Oh, and PS....is the an all-cyan inventory?

All cans for both of our prints say "DO -9- SC" on the shipping label. To compare, Narnia's labels in the same spot say "MUL SC PRR -9-". Is that what you guys are talking about?

DO = Digital/Optical
MUL = Multiple soundtracks (all formats)
??
(These are just guesses.)

Or possibly "Domestic"?
What do everyone else's cans say?
