Hi Guy's...

Can anyone confirm for me the size of the bearings in these motors. I have a number of them to rebuild, all working except the bearings are shot!

Unable to find anything in the manual and there is nothing on the bearings.

I think they may be R8 & R6 type am I correct.

Also the brushes for the same motors, size etc....

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Ken, are they the old style motors that mount inside the upright column? If so, I may still have some NOS ones! I also have lots of new parts for the payout heads that have the potentiometer drive...

What mesurement do you get with a Vernier Caliper.

The ORC CP302 platter that I'm most familiar with has motors from more than one manufacturer - Indiana General and Specialty - so manufacturer's differences could be possible with the bearings.

The bearings I've replaced have been R6 at the brush end and R8 at the other end (i.e. an R6 and an R8 in the same motor).

The brushes are also different for the Specialty and the Indiana General. Specialty uses an A7-1, Indiana General an A43-1. Cross-section of each looks the same, but the A43-1 is a little longer. The metal ends soldered to the wire are also different.

Check out the FOR SALE adverts in this forum - we have a pile of these motors, some new I believe, as well as at least a dozen feed units, two make up tables and lots more. Keen for these to go to a new home however need to sell before 1 March. DO keep in touch

thanks for that. I'm sure you have a good idea of where I'm coming from. All things considered he has a nerve even suggesting that the owner of the cinema in question would consider buying anything from him again. Once bitten twice shy comes to mind.
