Looking at pictures of the Philips/Kinoton FP20 (not the new one,
but the "classic"), it seems almost identical to the Kinoton FP30D.
The columns are different, and the inside ofcourse. But the feed
sprockets, the gate assembly and so on, looks exactly the same.

If they were both equipt with the same lamphouse, lenses, etc would
you see any difference on the projected image on the screen?

The FP20 was a better machine, in my opinion. I always thought of the FP30 as the econo machine. The FP20 is sleeker and has a more substantial column and a 400000% better base. The FP30 uses lawn mower blades (sharp too) for support...the FP20 had a real foot to it.

From a projection stand point there is very little different however...same drive train and gate parts. It really came down to the structure that held it all.
