I need to hook up a DVD player to a CP55. I have considered connecting a mixing board to the non-sync input and connecting the DVD player and CD Player to that. I would prefer to get 5 channel sound out of the DVD but there is a DTS unit hooked to the AUX input of the CP55. Is there any way to do this or am I going to have to go through the non-sync? The CP55 has been upgraded with a 441 card if that matters.

Can't you just unhook the DTS while running the DVD?

I would prefer to avoid having someone have to get in the rack to unhook the dts unit whenever they showed something on dvd.

A cheap DB25 2 port switcher from a computer store works nicely for this. They're only about $20 bucks too.

So using the switcher, I would just have to make a cable that connected the 6 outputs of the dvd player to the DB25 according to which wires are used in the cable in the DTS manual?

Go into the "loop through" on the dts and let the dts do the switching. Louis

That'll only work on the original dts6 model unless he wants to get fancy with a CP200 board or something.

The DTS is a 6D. I think Brads solution sounds like the best. The DVD system won't be used very much. I don't think I will have any trouble making the cable but if I do, I will get ahold of you Brad. My only question is that when I make the cable, what do I do with the shields on the RCA cables where they will be attached to the DB25? Should I just leave them unattached? The pinout diagram in the DTS manual doesn't list a ground. Thanks for all the help everyone [thumbsup]

I had assumed to just leave the shields on the RCA plugs unhooked but now I am wondering if I should tie them to them to the shield on the DB25 cable?

Connect to any of the ground pins of the DB25 cable.

Im looking at the diagram from the DTS manual and it lists 3 pins with no name and a bunch of pins labeled audio return. I assume the audio return are the ones I use?? Just want to clarify before I solder this together.

Ok, I made the cable and hooked the grounds to the Audio Return pins in the DB25. I double checked all the connections with my multimeter to make sure I had the right pins hooked up. Everything looked good but when I tested it out, I have a terrible buzz in all the channels. What did I miss? I unhooked the switch and just hooked the cable I made straight to the breakout board and still have the buzz.
