Strange one here. Got a call that the DTS6D unit just started making a screeching sound in the middle of the movie coming from the stage speakers. It has happened with 3 or 4 different films. The only way to get rid of it was to shut it off. It has been upgraded a couple years ago to the lastest version chip and boards. Any ideas?

Couple of years ago? Suggest you verify that the unit currently has Version 1.46 TCR chip.

It could be possable that you are having problems with your power supply over heating. Verify that the fan is working and that the case does not feel very hot. It also could be a card issue.

Can you try this player in another auditorium? This would verify that the screeching is originating from the DTS player.

If you find it is the DTS player, do you have another DTS player you can use to swap parts with?

Darryl's comment is most likely correct on this, the problem will be a powersupply, or the D536 audio board.

For everyone's info.....Some more info came in on this. When the problem (screeching) occurs, the sound from the movie is cut off. Spoke to DTS and they are sure that it IS the audio board. Thanks all.
