If you had straight gates on your XLs...the "rivit" would really be a registration pin. Aperture plates "click" in place on a straight gate version. It is too bad that didn't keep on the curved gate...the tension springs for holding the aperture plates in on the curved gate are a bit lame.

yea..tell me about it..have 6 of those curved gate vareties that uses the "pinned" aperture plate..and I have to tell the operators to make sure that the plates are securely inserted in the trap..for they do love to slide out some when machine is operating..
