I'm wondering if anyone knows of an inexpensive (ebay) press I can get to set bearings into shutter assemblies? I'll most likely be scouting ebay, so if anyone has a model or brand, please let me know. I need something just for assemblies like the small shutter assemblies, nothing major.

For occasional use, if you have access to a drill press, you can generally use it as an arbor press if you close up the drill chuck all the way.

Harbor Freight has some cheap arbor presses as well, like this half ton model. (I haven't actually ever used a Harbor Freight arbor press; their stuff is generally OK, but certainly not top notch. But it gets the job done cheap.)

To add further complications to the Chink press.. in order to properly use the Chink arbor press you will also need to have a machinist make for you a complete set of sleves and plugs for the shaft diameters and bearing O.D. diameters on the Christie so you don't ruin the shafts or the new bearings when you press them in place. Some try to use sockets of the closest diameter but that is risky and not the correct way to do it.

Mark is right...we have those seating "toys"...still better than having hammer and screwdriver marks on the bearing shields [Roll Eyes]
