I have had basically zero problems with all the 650's that we've installed since its appearance but this one is strange. It reboots even when hooked onto a UPS (APC-ES350). Seems the slightest power interuption... ie: Milliseconds... sends this 650 into never-never land for the 60 second reboot. When the UPS reverts back to AC it then reboots again. Is the UPS not switching over fast enough or does this 650 have other issues? One would think that the 650 power supply would have enough reserve for at least a second or so of operation so any UPS could work with it.....

I should add that the QSC DCM-1 that is on the same UPS does not re-boot.

Some UPS batteries when they switch over don't quite output full power. Have you checked the output of the UPS? It's possible that CP650 doesn't like seeing the drop, and increase in line voltage.

Update: Mark talked to Dolby and found out that this is a software issue. They are emailing an update and he will post more info after he gets it installed.

I installed OS ver 2.3.4.3 and it took care of the problem.

Yea, there are a number of nifty extras that were not there previously! As with any professional piece of Digital gear goes... it always gets better with age and many software revisions. I was not aware that the 650 has had so many revisions and alot just in the last 8 months. I have alot of 650's to upgrade now.

I would not go head over heals upgrading them all...especially if what you received is a "DO NOT SHIP" version. Dolby has been working on version 2.3 for some time now...I can honestly say I've contributed to some of the beta testing and finding out what didn't work! When 2.3 is finished, it will be a nice improvement for many people...but I think I've lived through 2.3.0, 2.3.1, 2.3.2 and even 2.3.3...which still had a bug on AC-3 streams that 2.3.4 should have fixed.

2.3 is probably the biggest improvement in funcitonality since 2.0.
