I have readjusted the Gate stop several times but I have 2 Strong PR1050 that continues to shave film, enough so they must be cleaned in between every show. What am I missing or failing to do? What is the BEST way to set the proper amount of tension? Thanks

Check the intermittent sprocket teeth sides to see if the teeth have been damaged by a worn intermittent sprocket pad assy, also carfully check the pads for ueven wear. This is a pretty common wear point on Simplex's. Set the gate to close so the intermittent pad spring just begins to flex slightly. This should give you about 8 to 10 ounces of film tension with the tension set to zero. Also check the curved runer for wear spots that might cause shaving... the runners should be perfectly smooth. Just be glad you don't have 1060's!

No kidding, Mark!
Yea...sharp edges on the INT sprocket teeth can also really do the shaving job on film as well by cutting out the inner surfaces of the sprocketholes - had to replace 4 INT sprockets on PR-1050's.
And really have to watch gate bands especially when they get worn and thin.
