I have a Simplex 35 PR1050 with a straight Studio Gate.The problem is the two outer tension shoes are worn and the intermitttent sprocket has worn a groove in the inner tension shoes.i have the parts to replace but I just can't get the thing apart.It is held together by 4 small flat blade screws(2 either side).Superman must have done these ones up or Locktite has been used(well couldn't have been Superman I've been told he's GAY).Can anyone suggest how to dismantle this?

IAN ..You can take the easy route.. order a complete new shoe assembly - a G-2350...(might call your dealer on this to verify the part number..) to do the fix..

Cuz, if you take that apart, you'll have the issue in getting the shoes aligned exact to meet the two faces of the new intermittent sprocket..unless you have a slab of marble to lay the assembly on to get the outer shoes aligned exact..

(why the four screws were sealed in with Lock-tite .. to keep the alignment)

Getting the whole shoe assy. is a good idea especially if there is a VKF sprocket on the intermittent. The new shoe is designed to work with the VKF teeth. Just a slight misalignment of a VKF sprocket with an old style shoe can result in the teeth being ground off one side of the sprocket.

I'm sure you are right Mark as it is a new sprocket.
