I have a Kelmar Gate/Trap on a Simplex PR1014.
The problem I'm having is the motor for the aperture plate seems to be driving the plate in too far.Can't seem to see if there is a STOP for the plate.How do I reset the position of the motor or plate so it drives to the correct position?

There is no stop for the scope position. As for the flat there is only 2 things that can cause this. The stop for the flat position is loose or the bushing that drives the plate is missing.

I can't see a stop for the aperture plate in either directions.
The aperture plate is out of position by the same amount in Flat & Scope.I'm getting a furry edge on the left hand side of the screen.I know the plate is cut ok as I can cure the problem by just pulling the aperture out a fraction.

Go to the manual secition and under projectors you will find Kelmar Simplex XL retrofit gate and trap parts list. On page 2 you will see item number 27, 28, 29, and 30. 27 and 28 is the stop. Part number 29 is the bushing that goes over the screw that moves the plate back and forth. If you are out in both flat and scope it sounds like someone lost the little bushing (29)
