Greetings ya'll.

Lately one of our machines has been moaning. And not in a good way. It’s coming from the base of the lamp house near the rectifier. I would expect this is likely a bad blower fan or such however I'm new to Christie lamp houses (I miss my Kneisley!) and wondering if any of you may have an idea of the possible source. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! And sorry this is such a novice post, I wish I new more.

We had the same problem with ours. 99.9% sure its the blower fan. Not a hard fix at all..I think the fans are somewhat cheap too. Make sure there arent any wires that are prohibiting the fan from spinning, if its clear, then the fan is bad.

Sometimes simply cleaning the fan and all, or squirrel cage, can solve the problem. But if this has been going on a while now, you'll probably have to replace it anyhow, even if just for preventive measures.

If you look closely at the motors you will see two small oil holes.. one at heach end of the motor casing. In the majority of lamphouses these oil holes are upside down so the manufacturer sells alot of blower assemblies and can then afford gas for his twin engine plane. All blowers should be removed once a year and cleaned and at this point one can remove the motor nuts inside the blower housing and turn the motor around so the oil holes point mostly in an upward forection... making oiling the motor a doable thing. So when the blower wheels are cleaned the motors can be oiled at the same time and you'll never have blower motor failures.

Present Christie lamphouses have switched to asian made ball bearing motors. They are of very high quality and will last long but they are not necessarily directly interchangable with the older motors.

I've had the same thing and it is the box fan under the diode rack. Part available from Christie or probably Grainger.
