I'm having a problem with a Smart system, when I start the film, the LED reader, actual reads the leader tape. It's a Smart 2 MOD B with a practical automation system.

It works great with every other house.

What can I do? (Besides, dump and buy a Dolby system. I've already talk to my boss about that... he won't do it [Frown] )

Sounds like your automation is not sending commands to your format select board in the processor or possibly a defective format board or loose - corroded connections on the format select terminals on the rear of the processor. Practical automation does not "ring" a bell....unless you are talking about printer hardware elsewhere in the cinema [Smile]

SSounds like the automation problem does the format lights on the mod 2b change?
The odds are thte led is wired to come on with the motor and some one wired the processor to switch to film format at the same time rather than with the changeover opening
Buying a Dolby product would not correct the problem

If you're playing music before you start the show, perhaps the automation is at fault... triggering the film input too soon? That would be an automation issue, not a problem with the Smart box.
