I have one Kinoton PK-60 that is have sound problems. There is a slightly noticeable WOW at high frequencies. All mechanical components have been checked for any irregular misshaping or wobble. The only thing that caught my eye, was the constant velocity sprocket downstream of the sound head. This is the one with the handle on it to twist the movement manually. The knob wobbles a bit on rotation. When I squinted with the aid of a flash lite to the inner portion of the shaft near something with a stable gap reference, I did notice an almost imperceptible movement.

It is possible that when the projector was installed, some one may have used that knob to nudge the machine around during alignment. Is it possible to bend the shaft on Kiniton's in this fashion?

Any suggestions would be helpful along with any similar experiences you may have encountered.

Odds are the sound drum pressure roller needs to have it's tension increased ever so slightly. (Too much tension is just as bad as not enough.) You can test that by very lightly adding extra pressure to that roller and see if the warbling goes away.

I had a year old FP50 recently with terrible sound instability problems and jitter in SR.D.

The impedance drum shaft bearings were rusty! wtf? Anyhoo, a ne wpair of bearings and all was well.
