The old Kinoton automation is starting to get a bit noisy when relays are switching.Sounds like dirty contacts to me!and it can be heard in the auditorium through the sound system.
Are the relays easily changed and are they a common style of relay that are readily available?
The model number of the automation is MP-15.
I am also getting some unwanted noises from the Monee that is connected to it but i thought they could only be cured with a crane and a very deep hole!

The relays should have info on them
As I am unfamiliar with that unit I will guess the relays are plug in
All that is important is the coil particulars (voltage resistance and ac/dc) the contact ratings (voltage and current) and the socket form

Thanks Gordon, I was just unsure if the configuration of the relay contacts would be different with "aftermarket relays."
I did have a closer look at the automation and I realised that the Format switch to "Film Sound" was happening too early in the start-up process.This was moved down to the w/s Douser Open position which solved most of the unwanted noises.....all except the static noise I get from the aperture motor on the Monee when running a C/S show.

Ian - for the future, yes, you can simply exchange the relays. They are all 24V DC relays, I don't remember how many contacts they have, but if you look at the back of the main board, you will see all the relays sitting there on 5 modules or boards with 6 relays each on them, and those boards plug into the mainboard. All the modules are interchangeable. The relays have all the relevant info, coil voltage and contact diagram and model number printed on them. The ones you have may be pretty old, but simple relays like that haven't changed all that much in a while.
When you google the manufacturer and model number, you will probably find all the info about the relays, too, and many electronics supplier offer crossreference lists because you can basically use any relay from any manufacturer which has the same parameters.
If you have any problems in the future, it might just be a good idea to take the boards out, pull the relays off and make sure they are properly seated after spraying a little bit of contact cleaner on the contacts. Then reseat them properly, plug the boards back into the main board and make sure everything is nice.
I have a list of what realy does what somewhere, if I manage to dig that up, I will email it to you so that you instantly know which relays does what and which may need to be replaced if functions fail to be properly executed.
If you are unsure about how to find the right relays, I would just contact one of the official Kinoton dealers in Australia which you can find listed here:

Dunno what you mean about the static noises coming from the aperture changer, but in my experience, the Monees aren't too bad if they are cleaned and maintained properly.
Who is importing and selling them in Australia? Are they available for support questions?
