One of my theaters has several SMART EXM556 monitors. I see in the instructions that there is an audio backup feature that allows the monitor to feed the center channel speaker should the amplifier crap out. These are not connected. In theory, this sounds like a good idea. Is there any reason not to use this feature? (Maybe it introduces noise into the system?) Has anynone use this feature, and if so, with what results?

In the early days of stereo analog on non-bi-amped sound systems, it was a nice idea...but you are talking about a 10 watt monitor amplifier acting as a backup + improper wiring can give you more grief than asset. Power amplifiers being so cheap these days better to have a spare channel(s) in the rack than can be switched in.
