Recently we have had one of our projectors give us a shakey image. It moves back and forth. I have tried to tighten the tension and it does not seem to affect the shaking. There is no noise associated with the problem, just annoying picture on the screen. The sound is fine, both dts and analog play without issue. This started about 2 weeks ago and does it every show and with multiple prints. I thought gate tension would be the culprit, but apparently not. Does that also rule out worn gate bands? This projector had all of its belts/bearings/assemblies replaced about 12 months and has worked perfectly until recently. I have no idea what I need to check into next. Ideas?

What about the lateral guide rollers? Are they smooth and turning freely?

The ruby slippers that the guides run on eventually do wear and the ends of the lateral guide should be inspected for wear and replaced if necessary and the ruby slippers SHOULD be replaced anyway. You HAVE to have the neato Christie alignment gauge in order to properly set up the lateral guides or you're just giessing and you won't be able to match the position of the two. It is also used to set the lateral guides on the sound head as well. Its under a hundred bucks....
