Does anyone know or have any experience with Lumi-Max lenses. They are made in Shanghai. Are they any good?

Image quality equal or better than older Sankor. Gold barrel use cemented optics, black ones are air spaced. Lumi-max is a Shanghai Electric trademark usually for the bulbs they sell (and to the Germans, Lumimax also is an earlier trademark to some photo products). The same lenses are available under different "brand" marks.

Hi Mark!

I have been trying to find a good used 6 inch lens, but haven't been able to get anyone to respond. I sent e-mails to Claco, and GTS, but nobody has responded. That is why I was trying alternatives. Are they really that bad?

When it comes to many things you get what you pay for
at the longer focal lengths they would probably be adequate

I won't have time to look till Monday Phil... We might have something on the shelf... probably an old Kolmorgen or B&L though. We have two plex's going in right now so we are all pretty tied up. A phone call woulda gotten you an instant yes or no though...

Considering the discolouration of older B&L lens I would favor the new asian ones
In this day and age an emailed question should have got as prompt of awnser as a phone call

Can't say I've ever seen a B&L prime lens suffer any color degradation... Just their scope lenses... the scopes were the only lenses they made that use Flourite glass which can shift in color over the years... but I've also seen quite a few that haven't.

When deadlines are to be met e-mail comes last. There is always someone in the office to answer questions.
