The attached photo was taken in the booth of the MANN NATIONAL Theatre in the Westwood Village community of Los Angeles on April 19, 2007, the night of its final show before closing.

Can anyone identify the make and model of this projector? Thomas Hauerslev's DP70 website claims that two DP70s were installed at the NATIONAL (serial numbers 2215 & 2216), but I do not know if those projectors were present for the entire lifespan of the venue or if they are the ones in the photo. (There was a second projector out of frame camera right.)

That's "Shooter," by the way, on the middle platter and about to be broken down.

DP-70 for sure. Ultra 80 lamphouse and Christie AW-3 platter. If you have a picture of the front( or know the number of motors) I could tell you pre 1963(two motors) or after 1963 which would be the AA-2 version of the DP-70(single motor).

Those projectors are not the original installed projectors for the theatre. The National theatre opened with DP-75's at the time in the booth. Both of those projectors ran great and were well maintained during the full time projectionist era for Mann theatres. The projectors were the single motor version. When the Village became a 70MM house it was also equipped with DP75's.

It appears by the penthouse readers they had all three digital formats. (DTS, SDDS, Dolby.)

Yes, The National Theatre is equipped to run all three Digital formats and at one time it also was equipped to run the CDS digital format. It was a fun booth to run. [thumbsup]

That's an AAII. You can tell there is only one motor on it.

I would assume they are too because of the shorter xenon lamphouse table but since the upper motor area is completely hidden there is no way to be absolutely sure.
