We have placed an order for a new Kelmar RTV-8900,I noticed on a picture of booth in another uk cinema the step down transformer is now mounted on the bar that runs along the back of the legs on the base is this correct on the newer models as our old version the transformer is located on a seperate plate under the bench at the back, any info on this would be good.

This bench is a 120 volt machine. The 220 volt transformer is sometimes supplied by Kelmar and sometimes by the dealer. This is the transformer that is less expensive to buy in the UK than it is here; commonly available in any store to allow USA equipment to work "over there." Louis

Greetings

The position of the transformer is generally dictated by the materials available to the installer at the time. For instance, if wood screws are to be found somewhere in the projection suite, then the transformer will be screwed to the underside of the bench. However, if the installer has actually remembered that the transformer needs mounting (and this rarely happens) he/she will have brought some hex-head self drilling screws, and the transformer will be accordingly mounted on some metal work.

If neither is available, the transformer will sit pretty neatly on the floor, since the cable is generally long enough to meet a wall mounted socket.

I think the Neil was under the impression that the transformer mount was done at the factory. But (as others have suggested) it probaby is installed by a local tech, who places it where ever they can.
