3 times last 2 weeks the level has gone upp to 10 without any obvious reason.
And - the strange thing is the same trailer (Transformers) and the same place (the fireball hits the stadium).
Anyone heard of this before?

Well, ours doesn't. I did read of a problem where the CP650 will increase volume setting, but only by .1 steps at a time (and I think that's only when you power off, then power back on). I know they fixed that with a software update, but I couldn't tell you if it's related to your problem or not.

1st step...check the firmware...the current one is 2.3.4.4.
Next, the shaft encoder (mechanical) if it gets a stuck switch can turn into an "only increase" or an "only decrease" knob! Alternately...if there is noise from the shaft encoder it could be causing the volume to move on its own.

Our version is 2.3.4.4
When thinking of it, the strange bahavior started efter a wisit of a technican (2007-mars) who upgraded the firmware. I dont know the previous version, but the CP650 was new in febr. 2004

My experience with software upgrades (of all kinds, not just Dolby) is that if the one you have is reliable and does what you want....leave it alone. Even then, be prepared to go back. Louis

Louis, I agree 100% on that! For the CP650... 2.0.10.8 was my rock. I never go above that unless the stuff inside requires a later version. 2.3.4.4 corrects known fader issues with versions 2.1-2.2. Particularly on remotes.
