DTS 6D that won't power up.
It shows a Manufacture date of Nov 1996.
Is it possible to still get these repaired? If so, where?

You might try just replacing the power supply. They're available at most any computer store. About 5 years ago I had one pop on me... took only about 15 minutes to fix it.

It'd be an AT powersupply since you have a 486 momboard in there.

MCM Electronics in Ohio stocks very high quality AT type supplies. About 30 bucks.

The power supply lead is good. Fry's Electronics is also good.

Also: 6D you have a choice of dts factory or Quality Presentations in New York. Louis

You can buy on line a adapter that allows an ATX power supply to work in a AT mode almost all our replacements are done that way

Anyone know off hand what wattage power supply it uses?
I don't have access at the moment to the unit needing repair.

A 250 wtt supply is more than adaquate, you're running a stone age 386 or 486 processor in there and it doesn't draw much. The nice thing about the Sparkle supply from MCM Electronics is that its high quality and almost identical to the one DTS originally used in the units. Its fan is also ball bearing.

If you have the DVD drives I would use nothing less than a 350 watt supply as I have seen the rails sag dureing boot up

Even the XD-10 is just using a 250 to 300 watt supply... only difference is that its an ATX supply... MB is a P-3 1ghz, 128mb ram and then there are the three other boards. I have seen 400 watt ATX supplies that are identical in size to the 250 watt. LArger is not really necessary.... the 7000 plus DTS units in service seem happy with the 250 watters.

We measured the load after having issues on powerup after we put in the DVD style drives into several 6D
putting in the larger powersupply cured the problem

I've installed well over 30 of the DVD drive kits in 6's and 6D's with zero problems. This region has always been a drive eater region because of all the dust.
